South Marion High School offers a comprehensive selection of academic, career and technical, and fine arts courses. Our Elevate Academy will provide students with the experiences necessary to be successful in today's highly competitive academic atmosphere. The ultimate goal of the Elevate Academy is for students to graduate with their AICE Diploma. Our Avionics Academy offers students authentic experiences in the emerging field of aviation technology. Industry certifications may allow students to transition directly into the workforce.
AICE stands for Advanced International Certificate of Education. The AICE Program is an international pre-university preparation program and a department of the University of Cambridge (England).
Over 10,000 schools offer Cambridge programs worldwide. Students take Pre-AICE courses in Grades 9 and 10. They take AICE courses, beginning in Grade 10. Each AICE course culminates with an end-of-the year exam, that with a passing score, can result in college credit.
· tSStudents are able to choose courses that emphasize their areas of academic strength.
· StStudents that successfully complete a total of seven AICE courses/exams, that include Global Perspectives AS, and at least one course/exam from the categories of Math/Science, Language, and Arts & Humanities will receive the AICE Diploma.
· TThe AICE Diploma makes students eligible for the Florida Academic Scholars Award in the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.
